Metekhi


 Metekhi

 Metekhi is an historical region on the left side of Mtkvari in Avlabari. It was the oldest settlements in the city. Vakhtang Gorgasali built a church and a fortress which was also the residence of the king. The name Metekhi comes from here, which means ,,area around the fortress” According to the legend, it was the place the place, were ,,Shushaniki martyr” was buried in the 5 th century. There is a statue of Vakhtang Gorgasali in Metekhi region.


Rike


Rike

 Rike, Tbilisi’s one of the oldest suburb is located on the left side of Mtkvari, it is between Avlabari and Chugureti. In the middle centuries, the left side of Mtkvari was called Rike. Afterwards some parts of this region was belonged to Chugureti. In the 1970 the old buildings of Rike were removed in order to make it modern.

Mtatsminda Pantheon

The Mtatsminda Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures is a necropolis in Tbilisi, Georgia, where some of the most prominent writers, artists, scholars and national heroes of Georgia are buried. It is located in the churchyard around St. David’s church “Mamadaviti” on the slope on Mount Mtatsminda and was officially established in 1929.
